[The Mill X SANM560] Week 4

The main goals for this week was finalizing the first attempt of the modern vespa textures, and priliminary lighting for shot 1 and 2. Other team mates also continued on look development for the environment and FX tests.

For the modern vespa textures, I also faced another troubleshooting phase in the part of maya - substance - houdini workflow. Since I did not know about the substance workflow and the method of the program itself previously, I worked based on the udims and UV tiles separated from the materials. However, importing them to houdini and connecting them needed connected attributes to the texture maps, and since udims was not a separate attribute in redshift (we did figure out that mantra had udims), I had to think about the solution to connect maya, substance, and houdini all together. In this progress, I decided to go back to the first part of the workflow and assign the same UV tile per material, work based on the udims in substance, and in houdini use the shop path material attributes to group parts of the model separately by maya material attributes in houdini.

I went back and fixed some extra UVs to not cause problems in importing FBX to substance painter, and went through the progress of re organizing the UV shells in maya. After then, I project configured the updated UV in substance painter to the previous version I was working on, and this workflow worked out, and was able to finalize the first attempt of the new vespa textures.
