[The Mill X SANM 560] Week 9

For week 9, I have been tweaking shot 1 and 2 lighting along with shot 3b environment look development adjust for last minute tweaks.
Based on the feedback from the mentors in the previous week, the sppotlight in front of the shop was strong to drive the viewers attention from the hero item, so I have been working on lowering the intensity of and adding more fall off, but also keeping the rim light hitting on the right side of the retro vespa, since that rim was separating the vespa from the background more.

The light was still a bit dark, so I added a bit more fill but not too much to keep the contrast.
The shot was handed off to Emma out compositor, and she added the rim more using the fresnel mask in comp process.
For the environment in shot 3b, we got the comment that it would be better to match the layout of the 3b environment to 3a retro environment, since the background was also transitioning and for fluent transition same layout would work out more effectively.
Also since we had a lot of problems in rendering out shot 3b because of the heavy scene and buildings, reducing the number of buildings to match the layout helped in optimizing the file making it able to render. The buildings was mainly used the same from last week, but since the fixed angle was more close up, I replaced the curtains to a more detailed asset, and also replaced all the close up texture maps to 8k high resolutions.

I also replaced shot 4 floor tiles to 8k and lowered the bump between the tiles, also increased the repetition of the tiles to get it to the appropriate size. These were based off from week 7 comments, that the tiles do not look like matching the real life scales.

After handing off the files, all of our team worked on rendering out the images since the renderfarm was a lot full due to finals week. After receiving the renders, Emma and Sam worked on amazing compositing to fix the unresolved problems in the post process, and combine all the work to a great sequence!
