This week our team has been working on
Editing previsualization and camera movements
Look development research and ideation
Asset research
FX test
and as a part of the look development team, I worked on
- Researching for the modern version of vespa
- Setting up the light rig for the materials
- Ideating the design of the modern vespa.
In week 2, we got feedback from the mentors about changing the vespa model to old to new, and I started off from investigating the modern vespa model.
(I documented our team feedback from the mentors in this link:
After researching for several models, we organized few candidates and discussed together to finalize the models, and the candidates are organized in this document:
#1 and #3 was finalized each for the modern vespa and the vintage vespa, and we bought the model and tried to start the look development process, but met to a problem that #1 model had severe lack of details, and I went through the progress to fix the model with Emma, but discovered it would consume some time.

A lot of parts was made out of single faces, and because we had scenes with close up shots, I tried to fix the model with subdivisions and extrusion and beveling, but figured out fixing this will take quite a long time.

Attempts of fixing one faces
To solve this problem, we had a team meeting in Friday (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GpLQvVySqfOVu9Uqz47jvfYKLMvOTcfEaJu5MNc8Yh0/edit?usp=sharing - document about the information of the team meeting) and decided to proceed with a new model, which was chosen to be #5 of the document.
However, we figured out that the new model was not done with UVs too, so Sara and Emma had adjusted the UVs along the weekend.
While the model was being processed, I started the research and ideation of design of the modern vespa look development.

I went through the idea development process and organized different materials and colors in slides, and shared it with my teammates. After listening to opinions, "red" color in total and "mix" color has been excluded, considering the match with the environments and showing contrast with the vintage vespa.

- This was the light rig of materials set up based on the materials, it was done before finalizing the design and color palette, and I received feedback in the part that it was too bright.

- Considering the feedback, I adjusted the backdrop of the light rig to be a darker color, and is still in progress in adjusting the exposure, since the white standard plastic material was looking bright.
- I also updated the materials into a different texture and color palette, matching to the chosen design.
I received the UV from Emma, and adjusted it a bit with Sara to match it to import to substance painter, and will be working on texturing the modern vespa in week 3.
